well… the point was that xmas is a NATIONAL holiday AND a holy day (for christians)… Easter doesn’t have the ‘national’ distinction… it ONLY exists for christians (and all) as someone’s holy day !
by the way… if the christians plotted against the pagans to take THEIR holi-holy-days away? IT WORKED ! You don’t hear much complaining from the pagans these days..

I have to laugh when I hear anyone say that Xmas and Easter are “Holy” days. Both were originally pagan festivals, and were turned into “holy” days by 4th and fifth century priests in order to get the pagans of northern Europe to convert to Christianity. These are “holy” days in much the same way the bible is a “holy’ book.

Steve Martin is not only a brilliant comedian and actor, but also a wizard on the banjo. I saw him on the local PBS station Saturday night with his bluegrass band, and they were kick-ass!

I don’t think you’re getting it… ‘terrorize’ was a word made-up by the media… and 2nd.. if the parents avoided the ‘terror’.. the kids never experience it ! If the parents walked their kids thru the crowd.. obviously they felt it was safe enough… YOU are being ’spun’ !
Psst… Sandusky can kiss my ass.. I don’t care what nickname you can make from his name.. How about ‘ALF’ for Adolph?

1) I believe in protest, but not in terrorizing school children. I would rather terrorize bankers.
2) I bet Sandusky doesn’t mind the name as long as you let him (or her) call him (or her)self “Sandy”
3) Have you ever heard “Veg-a-matic” by Steve Goodman? I turn the TV off as soon as the good movies on Skinemax are done because of that song.

Hey.. the media ‘leans’.. what can I say? The most ‘alike-official’ from the ‘wrong’ party, with the ‘proper’ views would be skewered for the same offense… I’m not agree-ing with it, but I can’t deny it’s there…
And I wasn’t ’slamming’ Shakespeare, the character in the show, presented as the all-american dad from the 50’s, was the one who reversed his personal viewpoint for the sake of the author, not the work, so as to teach his child that NAME trumps content… I’m just sayin’….

I find Walt Whitman to be verbose and sex-obsessed. Many others think his work is classic. If you say Shakespeare sucks, I totally respect that, and disagree.
Wiener was a hero of mine until he did his knucklehead text bit, then weaseled about resigning. I admire his politics, but otherwise question his good sense. Oh, yeah – the reason a Republican would have been ‘crucified’ for the same thing is that they always claim moral superiority with regard to this form of scandal, yet they are equally reprobate.
