Well… the holidays are ’sneaking’ up on us again !
Once Thanksgiving hits next week…

IT’S CRUNCH TIME !

It sure would be nice if they moved Christmas
to the end of January (holiday lull)…
You could actually relax a bit and enjoy the holidays,
instead of being so rushed.
Probably be better for the economy too.

THE WORST PART ?

Christmas is just something to get out of the way !
The ‘child-like’ excitement is gone for older folks.

OH WELL…

We don’t have to start ‘ho-ho-ho-ing’
until after Thanksgiving (start ‘counting-down’).

Jailhouse Rock’ songwriter

Jerry Leiber

Jerry Leiber and longtime partner Mike Stoller (alive) wrote
“Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Yakety Yak” and other hit songs
that came to define early rock `n’ roll.
(also… “”Charlie Brown,”"Stand By Me” and “On Broadway.”)

With Leiber as lyricist and Stoller as composer,
the team channeled their blues and jazz backgrounds
into pop songs performed by such artists as Elvis Presley,
Dion and the Belmonts, the Coasters, the Drifters and Ben E. King
in a way that would help create a joyous new musical style.

From their breakout hit, blues great Big Mama Thornton’s 1953
rendition of “Hound Dog,” until their songwriting took a more serious turn
in 1969 with Peggy Lee’s recording of “Is That All There Is?”
the pair remained one of the most successful teams in pop music history.

HEALTH ?

Just in case you were wondering…

The lung-blood-clots seem to be easing up a bit
as far as the breathing goes… but I’m having a sore-ness
(trunk of my body, not arms or legs),
that just won’t quit !  I’m  not supposed to take
aspiring, advil, meloxicam… and the tylenol just
isn’t doing the job.  I’ve been back at work long enough
for the off-my-ass soreness to leave me…
So I’m not too sure what’s going on…

A GOOD QUESTION FOR THE DOC Nov.23rd !

is a shocker.  MORE shocking that it was known
and IGNORED for the ‘good(?)’ of the football program,
and detriment of the ever increasing number of victims
by the people up-and-down-the-line from the criminal !
(at least assign the guy to another parish FAR away)

Had it been at a Catholic University
it might have gotten a… ” Aha, that’s what I’m talkin’ about ! “

PENN STATE is just as GUILTY as the Vatican
for hiding the criminal, and ignoring the crime !

AND I’M SURE BOTH WERE
TAKING THE MORAL HIGH GROUND
UNTIL THEY WERE CAUGHT !!!

Coach Paterno has been ‘excused’ by some
because of his age, 84, and ‘revealed’ to be
a doddering old man…  I don’t hear anyone
bringing up that he was around 72, maybe younger
(not that old anymore)
when alot of this shit went down !

I just saw a commerical
singing the praises of a tiny

ELECTRIC CAR

Some town got a thousand of them,
along with convenient charging stations…
and life was wonderful !

I SUPPOSE THAT TOWN WASN’T IN
CONNECTICUT
It just occurred to me the ‘fix’ you’d be in
if you had to struggle with loss of power
due to either a natural occurrence or terrorist act !
(like the last couple of weeks in Connecticut)
Power in the northeast went out for large numbers
TWICE in the last month or 2…
SNOWSTORM & HURRICANE !

RIGHT NOW ?
My power goes out ?

MY car still runs on gasoline !

(yes, I know the pumps need power,

but I can always drive to the next town.)

YOUR electric car sits cold & in the dark
with the rest of your appliances !
COLD & DARK is one thing.. but STRANDED TOO ?
(all your ‘eggs’ in one basket?)

I DON’T HEAR ANYONE EXPLAINING

My daughter had a minor car accident.
Someone tried to pass her on the right
when she was turning (and signaling) right.
(17 year old with a brand new Beetle)
Her outraged mother showed up,
insisted on calling the police,
and got more than she bargained for…
INSTEAD OF  SHE-SAID, SHE-SAID…
The cop went into the gas station,
checked their video surveillance,
and it clearly showed the OTHER girl in the wrong !

SHE EVEN ENDED UP GETTING A TICKET !

GOD BLESS THOSE CAMERAS !!!

science enthusiast with a plan.

Originally, you were sought out (and funded)
if your parents and ALL your grandparents
lived to be over one-hundred years old !
You were financially motivated to ‘mate’
with other members of ‘HOWARD ‘FAMILIES’ ‘,
with the end-result being people
genetically pre-disposed to long-life !

IT DIDN’T HAPPEN OVER-NITE
(and it was quite the secret project)
but without specific knowledge of DNA,
and making it more of a breeding plan
for a certain characteristic,
THE HOWARD PLAN WORKED !
(as it could today as well)

The ‘ugly part’ isn’t part of this next opinion…
but certain people just don’t age to me…
I was reminded of the Harshaw (Heinlein) CARYATID
when thinking of a 73 year old SUSAN LUCKEY.
I could never ’see her’ as older than 25…

(the same age I am inside my head)
((I ‘acted’ old when younger, didn’t become a ‘kid’ till 25))

Anybody can look at a pretty girl and see a pretty girl.
An artist can look at a pretty girl & see the old woman she will become.
A better artist can look at an old woman and see the pretty girl
that she used to be. But a great artist — a master —
and that is what Auguste Rodin was —
can look at an old woman, portray her exactly as she is…
and force the viewer to see the pretty girl she used to be….
and more than that, he can make anyone with the sensitivity
of an armadillo, or even you, see that this lovely young girl is still alive,
not old and ugly at all, but simply prisoned inside her ruined body.
He can make you feel the quiet, endless tragedy that there was never
a girl born who ever grew older than eighteen in her heart….
no matter what the merciless hours have done to her.
Look at her, Ben. Growing old doesn’t matter to you and me;
we were never meant to be admired — but it does to them.
Look at her!
