DANGEROUS ?
How about the falling tree branches?
I’ve never experienced the constant ’snapping’ before !
One time I thought some idiot was shooting-off
firecrackers in the snow… (it was multiple trees)
Weighed down by the snow (and leaves)…
tree branches lined the roads & yards.
(and hit some cars, houses, and people)
WE EXPERIENCE LESS DAMAGE IN MY TOWN
FROM HURRICANE IRENE LAST MONTH !
(we ‘entertained’ locals without electricity.. AGAIN)

AND IT’S TIMES LIKE THIS
YOU WISH YOUR WIFE
WOULD HAVE BOUGHT HALLOWEEN CANDY
THAT YOU LIKE !!!
School day, dark by 6pm, questionable weather?

WE COULD END UP WITH ALOT OF
LEFTOVER ‘ROTTEN’ CANDY !
(last kid cleans up at MY house)

You have to buy candy you don’t like…

or else you would have eaten alot of it already !
My wife used to buy way too early…
and had to replace alot of what we found !
I must admit, the rest of us in the house
are pretty damn good searchers !

On a MASH TV episode they told a story about
the doctor who ‘discovered-invented’
the way to separate red-blood-cells & plasma,
thereby making the storage of said lifesavers possible.
Before, blood was only viable for a 2 day storage !
Millions of lives have been saved by his genius !

The doctor-surgeon was the much accomplished,
studied in Canada, later back at Columbia in NYC.
Degrees and honors all over the place !
Born in 1904, died in 1950.

He was an african-american named

Doctor CHARLES DREW

On the show, MASH doctors painted a white patient brown
after he requested the right, ‘white’ blood..
and later lectured him after making a fool of him…

They related Doctor DREW’s death as a racist horror,
but it turns out to be more of a SCOPES legend.
Hawkeye claimed the doctor, injured in a car accident,
was refused care (and a transfusion) and died at an
ALL-WHITE-HOSPITAL

BUT IT TURNS OUT…

He indeed received a transfusion but was beyond the help
of the experienced physicians attending to him.
His family later wrote letters to those physicians
thanking them for the care they provided.
Over the years, Drew has been considered
one of the most honored & respected figures in medicine.

Lots of spooky movies
being shown for Halloween month, October…

My daughter came to me to comment about
the ‘new’ version of 13 GHOSTS

She was ’shocked’ to hear that it was a re-make
of a 1960’s movie by Wm. Castle.
SHE HAD NO IDEA !
(that’s why they make re-makes of even
recent movies… young movie goers…
the business bread-and-butter,
have a new ‘crop’ of kids & daters every generation)

WHEN I SAW IT IN THE THEATER…
(who let me in? I might have been 6 years old)
((probably dragged by an older sibling babysitter))

I remembered the GLASSES.
My kid immediately ‘contributed’ how the cast
needed to wear glasses to see the ghosts
in the newer re-make of the movie.

SHE WAS DUMBFOUNDED & JEALOUS
when I told her that the theater audience
was given the option of wearing the
GHOST  VIEWERS !!!

The movie was advertised as SO scary,
you would ONLY SEE the ghosts
if you wore the (hand-out) eye-glasses !
SO IF IT GOT TO BE TOO MUCH,
TAKE OFF THE GLASSES,
AND THE GHOSTS COULDN’T BE SEEN !!!
(only their actions)

THOSE WERE THE DAYS !!!

and watch out…

I just heard advertised a movie with

NICOLE  KIDMAN

I have to admit she is absolutely beautiful,
tall, elegant, great red hair.. alabaster skin…

BUT

I have NEVER seen a movie
that she’s had a major role in
where she didn’t suck-the-life
out of the project !

TECHNICALLY, SHE’S FINE
but she isn’t dynamic,
she isn’t a commanding figure…
she fades into the movie set…
NO PRESENCE
(except ’sizing-her-up’ for ‘extra-curricular’ stuff)

Perhaps if she were in character roles
instead of starring roles,
she’d be a better fit !

at a WEEKLY TRVIA CHAT GAME (invitation only)
that I was a regular at back-in-the-day…

FIRST WEEK ?
High score – finished in first place !

SECOND WEEK ?
I arrived late, missed most of 1st half of game,
but started doing some major scoring…

I never realized how much they slowed-down
the theme song for later years !
At first I thought it was just the tv station
running it faster (jazzier) to squeeze in more commercials !
