I know Autumn has begun,
but the RIP Fall Issue isn’t here yet…
Things pile up around this time of year.
The RIP RENFIELD 13th Anniversary,
MY October 11th birthday.
The FALL issue…
MY health… little things like that !

So let’s get going…

I’M PLANNING ON ‘WORKING’ THIS WEEK…
meaning… fewer (short-cut) pics, more writing…
I’ll see how it works out…
but inspriration & things that piss-me-off
don’t seem to come to me as often
sitting on my ass, recovering from my ills.

BY THE WAY…

I’m recovering nicely from the blood clots…
I’m see-ing the doctor weekly for blood work.
Taking my meds & the levels are good.
Back to work in a couple of weeks,
6 months of Coumadin (Rx),
and a year to (hopefully) ‘near’ full recovery…
(although I might have fatigue problems- under 100%)
and the only bad news?
There’s talk of inserting a ‘filter’, thru an artery,
to ‘catch’ and help break-up any other clots
that I might form… but it looks like we’ll hold off on that
unless it becomes necessary at a later date…
(kinda ruins your indestructible mind-set though)

WHOA !!!

Will the authorities be contacting me ?

Seems my ‘powers’ have kicked in again !
First, the non-imdb siting of Susan Luckey on tv
the day after I write about her…

AND NOW ?
I write about ‘drones’ attacking the USA,
or mini-drones launched out of garages,

and what happens ?

Less than a week after I write the item,
and 3 days after I post it,
there’s an FBI sting arrest concerning a local ‘terror-suspect’
who had planned to launch radio-controlled aircraft,
loaded with 10 grenades at gov’t targets !!!

AND HE HAD THE EDUCATION, SKILL,
AND EQUIPMENT TO DO IT !!!

Geez… of all times to be right about something !
At least the FBI was on-the-ball (for this one) !!!

BUT HOW CAN THEY DEFEND AGAINST ALL ?
I’ve wondered about the danger of small aircraft.
Ones owned and operated by private flyers.
Ones that pull advertising banners behind them.
YOU ONLY NEED ONE NUT !!!

IF THE TECHNOLOGY EXISTED,

THEY COULD HAVE JUST AS EASILY,
AND WISELY,
HIKED 50 MILES FROM THOSE BORDERS !

Hmmm… Am I a BIG-BANG-NERD too ?

They just made fun of one of them
for ‘loading’ his new wallet with his honorary
JUSTICE LEAGUE of AMERICA membership card !

I never thought twice about keeping my
DOCTOR WHO FAN CLUB of AMERICA
membership card (from the 1980’s) in my own wallet !
(or the D.W.F.C.A. as we call it)

There was some good merchandise in those days,
including THE WHOVIAN TIMES (newspaper) !

PLUS MY VERY OWN ‘TARDIS’ KEY !!!

I was thinking of doing a DOCTOR WHO
RIP DEAD TRIBUTE since
they’ve been advertising his death
on the October 1st episode all year,
but since they just came out with a ‘NEW’
line of Doctor Who merchandise to cash-in
on the american audience,
I’M THINKING HE’S GOING TO SURVIVE TO TAPE
ANOTHER SEASON OF A VERY POPULAR SHOW !

ENERGY  EMERGENCY

The lastest technique is called

FRACKING

where pressurized fluid is pumpen into previously
un-economical rock layers that contain oil or gas,
and ’squeezing’ and forcing it together for recovery…
It’s not particularly enviromentally friendly
and can ‘poison’ ground-water in previously good areas.

IT OCCURRED TO ME…

Someone is making money on this process…

LOTS OF IT !!!

When was the last time fuel prices dropped
from all the NEW sources of energy ?
It ONLY seems to drop when the economy
goes to hell & people can’t afford leisure travel !

ALASKA (and other) PIPELINES
OFF-SHORE DRILLING
NOW FRACKING ?

They recover more and more
but there is no over-abundance ever admitted to !!!
(or reflected at the gas pump)
BAD ECONOMY – YES
EXTRA PRODUCTION – NO
(and prices WILL be up again.. and soon)

THE ONLY CHOICE WE GET
IS WHO GOUGES US
(foreign or domestic)
while they destroy the enviroment !!!

A tv comment…

(remember? I’m home recuperating)

BODY of PROOF with DANA DELANEY

It’s a really good half-hour show,
too bad it runs a full hour !
The ‘fluff’ is very notice-able.. over-powering in fact !
Me? I like a good mystery or cop-type show.
What I don’t like is extraneous story-lines
that make a half-hour cop-mystery show
into a one hour soap opera !
(maybe you work it in after a season or 2…
and gradually do character development)

I happened to ‘record’ the show
so I could stay with a BIG BANG THEORY marathon.
When I played it back… I enjoyed it alot.
BUT
I fast-fwd-ed past anything to do with her
working in an office with her ex-husband
who is dating the head of the department !
(if going for that, they should have made it a gay man)
They use the ‘triangle’ angle (ex & boss)
and also the ‘taking my daughter away from me’
and the bad ‘new-woman replacing mom’ angle.
IT JUST TAKES UP TOO MUCH OF THE SHOW !
I’m thinking of continued viewing…
but ONLY on ‘tape’ controlled by ME !

At least they don’t use the ‘tough broad’
‘HEAR ME ROAR’ like they do on
PRIME SUSPECT
I think I could accept her as a ‘bad-ass’
if she actually was…
She talks-the-talk, but first show gets over-powered
by a perp in a foot chase (loses her gun of course),
gets choked out, and is saved by a MAN cop !!!
SHE CAN’T DELIVER ON HER BIG-TALK !
(I won’t be watching again)
Not much hope for the show,
it’s up against THE MENTALIST
and The Mentalist has a great lead-in
with PERSON OF INTEREST.

Without having seen it, I’m thinking…
this PAN AM tv show must suck !

I’VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING PRE-ADVERTISED
AS MUCH AS THIS SHOW…
(adds, commercials, every computer pop-up)
SOUNDS LIKE THE SHOW IS IN TROUBLE
FROM THE START !

on the other hand…
A REALITY show of ACTUAL flight attendants
relating their experiences…
COULD be alot more interesting !

I ENDED UP WATCHING IT !!!

The show started out okay & the hour went quickly.
I’m hoping they stay away from air-disasters
or making it TOO soap-opery.
I think the ’spy stuff’ is pretty un-necessary & stupid.
And the wife blaming the stewardess for sleeping with
her husband instead of blaming him was…
well…. the ‘good old days’ !

That cabin should have been thick as fog !
I wonder if they’ll serve peanuts,
no peanut allergies in those days !

The time-frame of the show wasn’t particularly
‘friendly’ to people-of-color !
They could either ignore racism or be out-raged by it…
(they should address it somehow)
I heard they’re introducing a black stewardess
character LONG before Pan Am actually hired them.
So we’ll get to see what they decided soon.
(I can’t recall see-ing ONE black person in the pilot)

I was in college at a time when ‘young’ people
were pretty accepting of different peoples.
But the difference between the 90’s & the 60’s?
(or the 80’s and the 60’s? or even the mid-70’s?)
WOW…  HUGE !

AFTER SEE-ING A FEW MINUTES OF THS SHOW ?

I’ll watch again.. or at least tape-it…
(taping is better, I get to skip story lines)

The (unknown to you) things
you run into on tv when you are housebound…
Surfing channels.. (almost nothing holds my attention)…
(I was made for remote controlled tv)…

I ran into this un-interesting movie…
but since I thought I recognized ELIZABETH SHUE
and she had a funny line… I watched a minute or 2…

I include this in the CLIFF ROBERTSON Tribute issue
because she copied a movie theme of his…

MOLLY was CHARLY with AUTISM

And her ’sensitive’ hearing allowed her
to repeat, LOUDLY, for the crowd,
the manager, first-base umpire argument at a ballgame.

AND it WAS a GREAT insult…

YOUR  BREATH  IS  WORSE  THAN
THE  SHIT-HOUSE  DOOR
ON  A  TUNA  BOAT !!!

You could build a whole movie
around a great line like that !!!

WHAT  YEAR  IS  THIS  ?

My first impression of THIS woman
was a very negative one.

I saw a man and woman (co-workers)
approach closed glass doors.
The woman was slightly in the lead,
arms empty, but chose to step aside
and not even make a faux reach for the door handle !
Basically, waiting for the man to open it.
If she had slightly attempted,
or the man had given an  ‘I’ve got it’

NO PROBLEM

EXPECTING it came across as VERY arrogant !
(especially for co-workers, not daters trying to impress)

BUT, I’D RUN TO OPEN A DOOR FOR ELIZABETH SHUE !!!
