THE  TEACHER  ISSUE

I pre-planned this issue
as the follow-up to BACK-to-SCHOOL from last week.
and had mostly all of this week’s material
pre-written and ready to post last week…
and a good thing…

LAST MONDAY I WAS IN THE

EMERGENCY ROOM !!!

(and was admitted for almost a week)

I’ll be off-work for ONLY a few weeks (I hope),
so I guess I’ll have the time to explain more
at a later date… but for now ?
YOU GET THE PRE-PACKAGED STUFF !
(no effort from the ’sick boy’)

a ‘taste’ ?

DIAGNOSIS :  LUNG CLOTS
Clots also in calves, heart a ‘high’ passing grade.
(got a great dvd of the inside of my heart)
TREATMENT :  Blood thinners to dissolve them.
(and weekly doc visits to keep an eye on me & my blood)

ONE THING I’D LIKE TO POINT OUT…

It probably interfered with my studies alot,
but if I had a decent looking female teacher,
this week’s banner is MORE the way I saw her !

‘OUR MISS BROOKS’

Our Miss Brooks is an american sit-comm
starring Eve Arden as a sardonic high school
English teacher (was she ever anything but ’sardonic’?).
It began on radio from 1948 to 1957,
and television from 1952 to 1956,
and became a mega-hit on both mediums !
It was even adapted to the big screen.
(richard crenna as walter denton stole the show)

A very liberating role model for women…
A self-sufficient working woman, a teacher,
who like teachers of her time WERE underpaid !

Although Eve Arden will probably be most remembered
as MISS BROOKS, she had a 60 year career crossing
most all media frontiers… she was a movie fixture.

AND SHE ALWAYS SEEMED TO PLAY
THE SAME CHARACTER (herself?) IN MOVIES.

THE TEACHER BANNER REMINDED ME
OF WHAT I LOVED ABOUT SCHOOL…

HOT  FOR  TEACHER ?

My nephew teaches in the same school system I attended…
the high school teacher I STILL fantasize about retired…
I’m thinking she could be closing in on 70 and my nephew
seeing her recently doesn’t know what I’m talking about…
if anything,  the ONLY thing she’s maintained is that
‘wonderful person, vacant–ness’ I so much remember…
Nephew’s opinion?  She’s ‘out there’ !

Like Hitchcock said about Grace Kelly…
Lady in the drawing room, whore in the bedroom…
I always hoped so… (in my head, she proves Hitch right)

I just realized that my ‘fantasy girls’ from my youth…
mostly actresses (mostly of the off-beat variety), teachers,
non-blood relatives, and ANY ‘hot’ thing that crossed my path
(not including classmates)… are probably ALL closing in on 70,
and some I know for sure are well into their 70’s !!!
It’s a great thing that they never aged at all in my fantasies…
and who knows?  if I ever ran into any of them…
I just might look good to them… FINALLY !

AND IF I EVER HAD THE ‘CHANCE’ ?

THEIR CURRENT AGE WOULDN’T
MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO ME…

(but watch them ‘brittle’ bones)

I’ve ‘invested’ alot of ‘thought’ on many of them !

I got the time

(AND LOTS OF SPACE)

so I thought I’d introduce you to my
‘new’ (decades old) ‘girlfriend’…

(this is the ‘real deal’, not like Kellie M)

from a wonderful starring role in

CAROUSEL

SUSAN  LUCKEY (at 18) – 1956

… playing it young, or was that how it was in the day?

(she was 24 when she played ZANEETA SHINN
in her other BIG 2nd female lead role in THE MUSIC MAN)
((an EXTRA real cutie in THE MUSIC MAN))

VERY LITTLE CAN BE FOUND OF HER ONLINE…
SHE JUST DISAPPEARED !
(I have to ‘time travel’ back to ‘62 in my sleep to see her)

So, over the years I made up a few things
and filled in the spaces…
She worked with Shirley Jones on both
CAROUSEL & THE MUSIC MAN…
Susan was an extra-ordinary dancer.
She either met or got very involved with
Larry Douglas around the time of the MUSIC MAN.
Her career on fire at this point,
might have gotten stunted by the fact that
Larry was the then husband of ONNA WHITE,
the master choreographer of THE MUSIC MAN.
Onna divorced Larry in 1959, had 2 kids with him,
and never re-married… someone else with
your ‘ex’ usually never ends up with mutual respect,
and as choreographer, Susan & Onna
must have worked very closely together.
A protoge who spent alot of time with her AND her husband ?
Perhaps or a ‘daddy-seeking’ husband stealer ?
A cutie like that could be VERY tempting to an ‘old’ man !
or just QUE SERA SERA ?
Even though Susan’s marriage to Larry wasn’t until 1964
I’m thinking that Onna might have had enough
residual ‘feeling’ (betrayal?) and ‘muscle’ to ‘blacklist’ Susan.
Either that or Susan was ready to
‘marry young and then retire’.
(she could have been BIG.. er, BIGGER !)
Larry was 24 years Susan’s senior,
but it must have been love…
she stayed with him till his death in 1996.
(32 YEARS WORTH OF MARRIAGE)

I really can’t blame LARRY…

I would find myself entranced & tempted too !


THE ONLY LATER APPEARANCE I CAN FIND OF SUSAN ?

On one of the anniversaries of THE MUSIC MAN
(or the release on dvd… whatever)
they did a dvd extra, an intro piece,
with memories of the making of the movie…

THOSE  REMINISCING ?

Buddy Hackett, Shirley Jones, Susan Luckey…

AND ?

ONNA  WHITE  !!!

I’m thinking…
‘THAT MUST HAVE BEEN UN-COMFORTABLE’ !

Dad is trying to explain to little Jill

It’s an odd coincidence that it’s being shown
on the same day that the ‘chimp lady’
came out in public to show off her ‘face transplant’ !

You remember… woman kept a pet chimp
as a companion for years (decades?),
and for some reason
(the chimp never explained)
attacked a woman visitor…
ripping a good portion of her face off !

I’m watching this 1940’s B-movie

on a very ‘barely-a-station’ station…
(out of desperation)

I watched less than half of it…
(standard bob hope fare, not his best)
but I was taken with co-star

PAULETTE  GODDARD

She’s in her hotel room packing for a trip to Cuba.
She’s attractive enough…
she’s wearing a dress that definitely ‘dates’ her to 1940.
No real flash… but not a rag either…
She retires to the bedroom,
un-does, & drops her dress…

SHE HAS MY FULL ATTENTION !!!

WOW !!!  STUNNING !!!

and the thing that REALLY got me?
Although the dress was right out of 1940,
her under-garments were indistinguishable
from present day under-things… not dated at all !

SARAH  RAFFERTY

Sarah plays Harvey’s efficient secretary-receptionist.
She is statue-esque, drop-dead gorgeous, shapely,
has the love-liest long red hair…
AND ONE OBVIOUS FLAW !!!

God does that little ‘o’henry’ often…
He’ll make someone very nearly perfect,
but they’ll have one flaw that’s either obvious,
or one that haunts the ‘flawed’ beauty…
(big feet, big ass, bad breath, smelly feet, etc)
((Jen Anniston seems to have a rep for a smelly ‘region’))

Poor Sarah also has one… a visible one…
There was always something about her,
but I didn’t place it until they tried to
BLATANTLY cover it up
with a sleeveless, very high collar dress.
