I’m not actually ill in the ‘germ-y’ sense…

But I’ve had such a mind-numbing,
head exploding 2 weeks that I’m claiming ill-ness…

MENTAL  ILLNESS !!!

There was work, too much of it… no day off,
and a few hours each evening before sleep.
(sleeping well from exhaustion)
BUT SLEEP OR NOT,
I’m very content to just lay there in silence
staring off into the distance !

I WAS NUMB ENOUGH
TO BASICALLY LIVE IN FILTH FOR THE PERIOD !
(MY hideout? Wash piled up, no vacuuming, little things)

I can’t seem to get my ‘head’ back in the game,
or at least to the ‘misery’ I took for granted 3 weeks ago !

THE CAUSE ?

Major… MAJOR changes at work
that directly effect ME !
I should have been ’shielded’
but became the sacrificial goat !
THEY TURNED THE PLACE UPSIDE DOWN !
Arranged while I took a week off last month !

I’LL SURVIVE… I’M JUST NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT !

Currently I’m on vacation time for the NEXT 2 weeks.
COULDN’T HAVE BEEN BETTER TIMED !

I have 2 weeks to win the lottery and retire,
or 2 weeks to rest up and get used to the idea !

I’M HOPING THE LOTTERY COMES THRU !!!

There have been times in my life when
a ‘greater power’ has taken an interest in me
and given me what I REALLY needed
WHEN I really needed it…

THIS SEEMS LIKE ONE OF THOSE TIMES !!!

A good choice by Nixon for a replacement.
Objections to him, if any, to be confirmed as VP,
were non-existant… Nice & calm, no fireworks !

BETTY WAS ONE OF THE FEW FIRST LADIES
TO DISTINGUISH HERSELF AS AN INDIVIDUAL..
(as a young woman, & later successfully battling her addictions)
at a time when women were fighting for ‘liberation’
she was a well-liked, well-respected beacon
showing the way…

After her BETTY FORD CLINIC had been in business
for a considerable while,  there was a ’scandal’
concering MIGHTY MOUSE !!!
In a cartoon, Mr.Mouse was seen ’sniffing’ flowers
which many saw as a drug reference !

One of my wife’s friends was particularly amused
(actually, she GOT it, when others didn’t).

The line that got her ?

I suggested that MIGHTY MOUSE

might end up in the BETTY BOOP CLINIC !

anybody else notice ?

I’m outside all day so I notice changes around me.
It’s always amazing to me how NOT subtle
the change we see in the earth’s orbit in New Jersey.
I could immediately tell by later afternoon shadows
that a seasonal change isn’t that far off !

BOOM… AUGUST 11th !!!

Not the day before or after, or the week before or after…

THAT DAY THERE WAS A VERY NOTICE-ABLE
CHANGE TO THE ANGLE OF SUNLIGHT !

Don’t get me wrong.. it’s still Summer HOT,
but the afternoons… late afternoons especially
just aren’t the same… actually much more pleasant !

THE SUN ISN’T BEATING FROM ABOVE AS IT WAS !

MOTHER  NATURE ?

YOU can’t fool ME !!!

Either I picked a better place for my satellite radio antenna
(small square pad on a pedestal),
or Sirius-XM put in more repeater ground stations.
In years past, twice a year, I’d lose signal
as the seasons changed & I had to re-position the antenna.
AND IT WAS AROUND THIS TIME !

the reception area is usually the place
where the out-going mail is piled.
AND MOST OF IT IS USUALLY
FOR UPS or FED-EX or DHL !

One stroke of Obama’s pen
could have EVERY gov’t agency & office
using the UNITED STATES Postal Service
for the ‘lion’s share’ of their mail !
(the same over-nite & tracking services are offered)

THEY SPEND THE MONEY ANYWAY,
WHY NOT STEER IT TO A FELLOW-GOV’T-AGENCY
TO ERASE THEIR DEFICIT ?

I’ve noticed how postal vehicles are usually from years
where FORD, CHRYSLER, & GRUMMAN
were in financial difficulties…
WHY NOT HAVE THE REST OF THE GOV’T
SUPPORT THE US POSTAL SERVICE
and probably help keep stamps cheap
instead of creating huge deficits !

IS THERE A REASON TO STEER MONEY
TO OTHER DELIVERY SERVICE COMPANIES ?
DO THEY MAKE POLITICAL DONATIONS
TO THE RIGHT PEOPLE ?

Seems like a no-brainer to me,
a common sense way to eradicate a problem !

is more than 3 numbers different than your own
(region of country… 0-3, 4-6, 7-9),
you need to use 2 STAMPS instead of one.
The EXTRA stamp would pay for the EXTRA distance.
(USPS can’t pass along fuel costs like other carriers)

USE BOTH MY IDEAS
AND THE POSTAL SERVICE IS SAVED
AND SO ARE ALOT OF SHIT JOBS

WE GOT THIS WACKY NJ RADIO STATION…
actually, the ONLY major in-state one !
(we count NYC & Philadelphia as local channels)

VERY HARD TO LISTEN TO…
(I try it occasionally when away from my satellite radio)
I USUALLY DON’T LAST VERY LONG !
The hosts are morons, the topics innane,
and the callers dialing with their noses.
(they’re in straight jackets most likely)

ANYWAY…

I came up with a million dollar idea concerning one topic.

There have been several BLACK BEAR incidents lately !
A few maulings, some wandering into towns,
some scary incidents to both campers
AND people who built way too close to nature.
(and pushing the bears back)

A BEAR HUNT HAS BEEN PROPOSED
to thin down the bear population…
(they do them every so often)

Some IDIOT woman phoned to say
that she understood the need (and method?),
but was appalled the some hunters
used ‘baited’ traps to lure bears !
THAT IT WAS LIKE SHOOTING FISH IN A BARREL !
She suggested the hunters go out like ‘men’,
track the animals (giving the bears a fair shot?),
and THEN shoot them !

UH… if the point is to kill bears
for the safety of residents & campers,
and the method IS to be rifles…

WHAT THE EFF IS THE DIFFERENCE
IN THE MANNER IN WHICH THEY ARE STALKED ?

IS IT TO GIVE THE BEAR A CHANCE TO WIN ?

Here comes my million dollar idea…

I’m pretty sure they ‘tag’ most (all?) of these bears.
Why not include a GPS tracker in the tag ?
The simplest monitoring method would be a siren.
The sort the volunteer fire department uses
to rally it’s fire-fighters.  A bear closes-in
on a populated area.. everyone is alerted !
(to check a text, or tune to a channel for more info)

I’d even like to see a smaller-scale portable device
that could be ‘rented’ to campers…
Different strength alarms for 200 feet away,
100 feet away…. and RUN to the car !
Hang the alarm on your tent, a tree,
or stick it (on a pole) in the ground !
(or carry with you as you hike)

THE COST OF THE SYSTEM
COULD BE GOTTEN FROM DONATIONS
FROM ANIMAL LOVERS, THE LOCALS,
THE SPORTSMEN…. AND FROM
P.E.T.A !!!

Let them put their money where their mouths are…
so the poor, cute bears won’t have to be destroyed
for inter-acting with humans, and the human residents
will have more safety from their ‘neighbors’ !

OR BETTER YET…
Have some alarm company foot the bill
and offer ‘bear warnings’ to subscribers.

Seems the plan is always to take it away from
those who have it, or earned it,
and GIVE IT away as ‘charity’ to those less fortunate.

I have an alternate plan…

REDISTRIBUTION of WEALTH with DIGNITY

The way it’s been done in the past.
YOU go out, work hard, better yourself,
and even if YOU don’t get the ’silver cup’,
there’s a shove up the ladder for those
in your family that come after you.

There is dignity in jobs.

They can be bullshit jobs, but still have dignity !
Sweep cities, clean roads,
start CCC projects like during the depression !
We can still use dams & roads & public works projects
by young people learning a trade for
room, board, and a reasonable stipend !

THIS IS NOT THE TIME TO DOWN-SIZE !!!

Here you have a well-run company
that is making billions of dollars in profits.
Very far from the ills of failing companies.
AND WHAT DO THEY WANT TO DO ?
Greedily deny the workers a reasonable deal for
the workers had that helped create the company !

SQUEEZE THE WORKERS

BECAUSE YOU CAN !

There is NO reason for a spectacularly successful
company to NOT offer workers a decent deal !
I’m not interested in bringing the workers down
a rung-or-2 on the success ladder,

I WOULD RATHER BE RAISED
THEN THEM LOWERED !

AND STAY ‘UP THERE’ AS AN EXAMPLE !
