(close enough though with the holidays and all)

‘What a Wonderful World’

songwriter George David Weiss



George David Weiss helped write chart-topping pop hits
including
“Can’t Help Falling in Love” & “What a Wonderful World.”

A Juilliard School of Music graduate who played the violin,
piano, saxophone and clarinet, Weiss was a military bandleader
in World War II. He soon gained wide recognition
as a songsmith with success over the next few decades.

Weiss had a role in creating the Tokens’ hit version of
“The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” which was based on a 1939 song
written by South African musician Solomon Linda.
Weiss and two collaborators gave the song a reworked melody
and new lyrics but kept the refrain — “Wimoweh, wimoweh” —
that was popularized in a 1950s version of the song by the Weavers.

He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1984
and president – Songwriters Guild of America from 1982 to 2000.

I’m much too lazy

to take a digi-pic of my Xmas tree…
(pic, transfer, crop, size, etc)
and I say this every year…
BUT I HAVE THE MOST PERFECT TREE
YOU CAN IMAGINE !!!
A little shorter, a little fuller than usual…
BUT IT’S PERFECT !

After buying everywhere…
I’ve cut my own,
I’ve bought with ‘balled’ roots to replant,
I’ve gone to nurseries,
I’ve gone to temporary tree stands…

but the best selection and ease of purchase
for the last 5 or 6 years has been from

HOME DEPOT
(the home improvement warehouse store)

Prices are very reasonable ($29 for me this year),
you’re not walking in mud,
the nursery area is covered and lit,
the selection fanatastic !
(I can shop for an hour for a good tree,
first 3 I looked at were perfect, took number 3)

They trimmed the bottom,
put it in ‘webbing’ for the ride home,
and I had a raised table to put my tree stand (from home),
adjust the tree straight, lock it in,
put it in a shopping cart and right in the car !


Like Frosty, the Snowman…

I’LL BE BACK AGAIN NEXT YEAR !!!

Lennon was not an atheist, but believed that god was
something different to everyone.
He also believed that people focus too much on the teacher (God)
rather than what is supposed to be taught. In songs like this & “Imagine,”
Lennon’s was trying to send the message that we should not let religion
and other things get in the way of how we think life should be lived.
In “Imagine,” “Living for today” means to live as if there is no afterlife
or god and to do the best you can.

In this song,

“I just believe in me”

states his belief in his life regardless of anything else.

Claims that he refused a salary for the job…

but I believe I read that his ‘refused’ salary
was used to ‘hike’ the frozen salaries

I was very happy to see

into a national tv commercial for Hyundai !

I was introduced to her (them) in an odd way…
I had a very vivid dream of a girl and her house,
it made enough of an impression on me that
I made a rough composite pic from other pics…
(ala Jim Carrey in THE TRUMAN SHOW)
I emailed the pic and dream story to a
good friend in Oregon (from New Jersey)
and she recognized the ‘dream girl’ as Nataly
from Northen California (her house was in the dream too) !
IT WAS DEFINITELY HER !!!
and so I was introduced to them and their talent !

THEY MAKE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC
(very talented mo-fo’s)
AND CLEVER VIDEOS…
they really deserve to hit it big !

the news media really sucks sometimes…
(most times?)

I’m not even sure what they were saying
in this story…
A female teacher in NYC suffered a miscarriage
because of her breaking up a fight
between 2 students…
TERRIBLE, OF COURSE…

BUT…

The tv news added that the teacher
was NOT pressing charges.
She didn’t want a criminal record
to hamper that students in life…

THE ‘NEWS’ MADE IT SOUND NOBLE !

I could be way off base here…
but what charges are they talking about ?
If they came at her with knives,
you press charges…
If their intent had nothing to do with the teacher
and was just bravado & horseplay by students…
WHAT CRIME ARE THEY TALKING ABOUT ?
(that concerns her)
If she took a punch, at most it’s assault of some sort…
IF SHE MISCARRIED ?
I can’t see that being put on the students,
unless they had her on the ground & were kicking her !

SO IT’S HARD TO TAKE THE STORY AT FACE VALUE,
AS REPORTED !


THEN THERE’S THE REPUBLICANS…
If you read the headlines…
they are being lambasted as inhuman, homophobic a-holes
that are against 911 first responders
and openly gay people in the military..
(that may be true… but)
THE REAL STORY IS ABOUT BLACKMAIL !
The republicans are refusing to pass ANY legislation
UNTIL the tax bill is sorted out and approved !

but you don’t find that out unless
you read well into the story…

THE MEDIA SHOULD REPORT…
HONESTLY, NOT EDITORIALIZE,
AND NOT TAKE PART IN
CHARACTER ASSASINATION !

and THEN the media takes the suicide of Bernie Madoff’s kid
and makes him look like a sympathetic victim of genetics…
while he was living the life of a multi-millionaire from
VERY large returns on minimal or non-existant investment !

I was telling a buddy
about how TRAFFIC LIGHT CAMERAS
were being installed in my town…
WE CAME TO THE CONCLUSION…
It was about money, not safety…
and most of the money will be used to ‘feed’
the cost of installation and the maintenance
and the support team that ‘tickets’ & collects the money !

Worried about ‘cameras’ at a broken traffic light,
I called the police station to confirm one way or the other…
The dispatcher told me that town didn’t have them,
BUT watch out for this other town…
the DISPATCHER herself had gotten a ticket there !


ANYWAY…

THAT LED ME TO TELLING HIM THIS…

NYC will start charging people
for vehicle accidents that require
a response from fire companies or EMT’s !!!
It will range from 3-5 hundred dollars per occurrence !

Uh.. aren’t taxes supposed to pay for these services?
Taxes they ALREADY collect from us ?
Is this to free-up ‘dedicated’ money for other uses ?

THE BASTARDS !!!
