It was REALLY pissing me off
that my one lousy ‘hitter’ in
ICELAND and the one(?) in MADAGASCAR
were the only 2 places in the world (that I was tracking)
THAT WOUDN’T SHOW A SINGLE RIP READER !

The ICELAND hit showed up ages ago…

but that damn MADAGASCAR just wouldn’t light up !

Science fiction writer (The Genesis Experiment) whose later writings

I DISCOVERED THIS GUY YEARS AGO !
Back in the days when I had an insatiable appetite
for sci-fi books… (classic authors mostly)

Hogan creates a credible ’science’
and then prepares a book around it !
You don’t see why his concepts don’t exist in our world.
I was fortunate to have had some email contact with him
in the early days of the internet… (10 years ago, not 30)
Looking for the answer to a bit of trivia from one of his books
I’d read years before… I was somehow able to contact him directly !
(those days ended years ago)
We joked about how little I’d paid for the book in question
and, not able to answer it to my satisfaction,
he suggested I BUY it again so he could make a few cents on it !

I was able to dig out my OLD paperback copy,
copied the front cover (with price showing),
and mailed it to him along with a check for $2.75
It was MY way of getting an autograph
from someone I true-ly admired !

I PUT HIM RIGHT UP THERE WITH THE GRAND-MASTERS
OF SCI-FI… ASIMOV & HEINLEIN !



HE HAD A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR
AND ‘WENT-WITH-IT’…
(AND THREW IN A ‘54′ TO ‘SEAL’ OUR CONNECTION)

and others (more than one, maybe many)…

NEEDING DENTAL TREATMENT !!!

IS THIS AN ODD THING TO DO ?

I read a sci-fi mystery story many years ago.
There was a murder & then an attempted murder…

The method?

An elevator doors open
and the elevator car is visible.
As you step in & commit yourself,
you find yourself falling to your death…

IT SEEMS THE ELEVATOR CAR
WAS A HOLOGRAM OF THE ACTUAL CAR,
AND YOU ACTUALLY STEPPED INTO
A FLOORLESS ELEVATOR SHAFT !!!

The ‘hero’ of the story is saved by notice-ing
a ‘breeze’ from the elevator (shaft) that shouldn’t be there !

NOW FOR THE ODD PART…

I must do this all the time…
but I noticed that just today, upon entering an elevator,
I tested the floor of the elevator with my ‘front’ foot,
while keeping my weight on my ‘back’ foot !

I DID IT VERY QUICKLY…

NOT EVEN NOTICE-ABLY TO OTHERS,

BUT I AIN’T BEING FOOLED BY NO HOLOGRAM !!!

I was returning from THE bakery...

(the pecan pie one a few towns away)

and noticed (again) the street sign
put up to honor RIchie Sambora in Woodbridge, NJ…

and althougth it’s a great honor,
it ain’t much of a street !

No houses, no street addresses…
it’s a side road that leads to the high school parking lot.

NOT THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS LOCATION…

But I’d take anything for myself !

Put up a RENFELD BOOGALOO BLVD. sign
on a 10 foot dead end and I’m in hog heaven !!!

slippery floors ?

I couldn’t believe how hard the soles of my feet had become.
On both hardwood, and the bathroom tile floor,
I had to walk carefully…  it was easy to ’slide’…
(even with socks on, I mostly wore sneaker… A LOT)
I figured my wife had ‘waxed’ a little too thickly
and I didn’t want to criticize her for a thankless job !

I put on my work-shoes this morning
and noticed the ’slippery-ness’ even with shoes on !
So I got up my courage… and asked my wife
if she had noticed the slippery floors…

SHE DID NOTICE !!!

But she figured that I got ‘motivated’
to clean & wax the floors while she was out…
AND DIDN’T WANT TO CRITICIZE ME !!!
(she hadn’t WASHED the hardwood floors in a long time)

THE ONLY THING THAT MAKES SENSE ?
It’s been an extremely hot summer,
and my wife is constantly shutting off the air conditioning.
It does not run during the day at all…
(unless I’m home or on vacation)
the room I sleep in has a window unit
that I take full advantage of… and hide there all summer !

COULD THE CONSTANT HOT TEMPS
HAVE EFFECTED THE FLOORS ?
AND MADE THE WAX… WAXIER ?
AND GIVE THE BATHROOM TILES A ‘GLAZE’ ?

IT’S THE ONLY THINK I CAN THINK OF !!!
My wife plans to wash the floors with something
that should strip off whatever coating is doing this.

OTHER THAN THAT ?

In sharing this ‘recipe’…
I GOT SOME STRANGE LOOKS !

Every once in a while,
I get a desire for a BIG MAC from McDonalds.

Actually, I usually only get this ‘taste-for-macs’
when I have a buy-one-get-one-free coupon
in my possession ! The problem ?
I get them as takeout, and by the time I get them home,
rarely do they taste as good as, or the way, they should !
Either the bread is off, not enough ’special sauce’,
and it’s just not a satisfying experience…
Micro-waving is such a hit-and-miss
that maybe 1-out-of-4 BIG MACS taste great !


SO.. I HAD THIS IDEA !!!

I got a bowl, and used a spoon to chop-up
the (2) BIG MACS into small pieces…
I then added a dollup of additional
THOUSAND ISLAND SALAD DRESSING
(special sauce),
mixed it further, and then to the microwave
for a minute or 2 on high…
(I think I added another slice or 2 of american cheese too)

AND THE RESULT ?

IT WAS FANTASTIC… BEST I’VE EVER HAD !
(eaten with a spoon of course)
GREAT MIX OF INGREDIENTS
WITH EVERY SPOONFUL !

(it’s not as disgusting as it sounds)
((as momma always said.. ‘it goes in the same stomach’))

I’LL SEE IF THE ‘MIX’ HOLDS UP
THE NEXT TIME I GET A COUPON FOR A FREE ONE !

I DON’T RECOMMEND
ADDING THIS TO YOUR REGULAR DIET,
BUT, ONCE IN A WHILE?, GO FOR IT !!!
