Among the crowds spilling out into New York’s Times Square
to celebrate V-J Day in 1945 was a young nurse named Edith Shain.
As she ran into the street she was grabbed by a sailo
for an enthusiastic kiss, providing photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt
with one of the most iconic pictures of the 20th Century.

The 27-year-old nurse was working in a New York Hospital
when news came through that World War II was over,
and she and a friend went out to join the celebrations.
She later recalled that “she thought she might as well let him
kiss her since he fought for her in the war”.

When Life magazine published her story in 1980,
no fewer than 11 men came forward claiming to be the sailor.
Shain took part in the 50th anniversary of V-J Day in August, 1995.

buys buns (do-nuts) for the entire office…

On my wife’s birthday (june25th)…

‘bold face lie’ or ‘bald faced lie’ ?

The correct term is bald-faced,and refers to a face without whiskers.
Beards were commonly worn by businessmen in the 18th and 19th century
as an attempt to mask facial expressions when making business deals.
Thus a bald-faced liar was a very good liar indeed,
and was able to lie without the guilt showing on his face.
It refers to a “shameless”or “brazen” lie.
One where the teller does not attempt to hide his face while telling it.

It’s just recently that “bold” has come into usage.
It refers to typeface. It is used metaphorically in speech.
In the same way that a typesetter uses bold face type to highlight specific text
and set it apart, a bold face lie stands out as to not be mistaken for the truth.

and the same has happened to SARAH PALIN,

The ‘break-ins’ were accomplished ala the movie
WAR GAMES !
By researching and guessing from personal data,
the passwords were discovered !!!

I LIKE TO JUDGE FROM MY ‘LEVEL’…

(and I’m smart enough to not have a guess-able password)

I write RIP Renfield… I’m NOT in charge of ANYTHING !
When a visiting son (works in IT) asked for the password
JUST to get on my wireless network,
he started out condescending when I told him to get a pencil…
but after he was given the 10 character, gibberish,
password-encryption key I had memorized….

He said… ” WHOA !!! “

I’m not saying that my passwords are impregnable…
but you AIN’T gonna find any of them in the dictionary,
or my  biography, or guess-able from knowing me !!!

HAD AN ENTERTAINING FIRST SEASON.

THEY MUST HAVE RUN OUT OF IDEAS ALREADY !
Way too early to start using ‘hamburger helper’ (filler) !

MY REASONS FOR BAILING ?

A very awkward and unnecessary mention
and endorsement of a religion…
WHY WAS IT EVEN BROUGHT UP ?
(way out of place)

Hank (the star), looking smaller-than-life,
appeared as a guest host on a wrestling show…
and really looked like a ‘douche’ !

AND FINALLY…
The ‘FONZIE’ storyline !!!
The ‘older’ Fonz is more smarmy & annoying,
than charming & interesting !
Henry Winkler as the dad who deserted the brothers
BEFORE their mother’s death,
a bit slimy, with, I guess, questionable motives,
inserts himself into the brothers’ lives…
RIGHT IN THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD,
RUBBING ELBOWS WITH THEIR FRIENDS
AND CLIENTS !!!  MOVING RIGHT IN !!!


THAT IS HOW TO RUIN A DECENT SHOW !!!
START FILLING IT OUT WITH NONSENSE…
WILL IT WORK ?

It’s on thin ice with me…
The running ‘Kate’ storyline is annoying at best…
The stories went from good to ‘dorky’ real fast…
and the dialog seems ‘dumbed down’
instead of ’snappy’ and adult !

I’M 1 OR 2 SHOWS FROM QUITTING !

I’ve been a viewer of the LAW & ORDER shows
for the entire time they’ve been on… (decades)

There have been good shows, some really bad ones…
some actors who added to the show…
and one actor standout that was horrible !!!
Her ‘voice’ was bad, not a very good actress…
and her character was not well thougth out…
SHE WAS BASICALLY THE WORST THING
ON ANY OF THE SHOWS OR SPIN-OFFS
FOR 20 YEARS OF SHOWS !!!
(I did alot of fast forwarding when she was on)

So, of course… ANGIE HARMON
was ‘tagged’ to star in a new cop-type, forensic series !
A pair of (annoying) women (cagney & lacey types?)
trying to entertain for an hour a week !
Plus, for some reason, Boston doesn’t really work
as a back-drop for many tv dramas.

I DON’T THINK I’LL BE TUNING IN…

I THINK SHE WAS AT HER BEST ON LAW & ORDER !

LAW & ORDER: Criminal Intent

with the ‘new’ cast, including Jeff Goldblum…

I thought he’d be a terrific asset to the show,
and to be fair, he may not be the problem…
(but he ain’t overcoming it either)

The shows are ‘drugery’… no ‘life’ to them…
if barbituates were a tv show, this would be it !

IF THEY ‘PEP’ UP THE STORIES,
THEY COULD SALVAGE ME AS A FAN…
but it looks like an ‘effect’ their going for on purpose !!!


I CAN AMUSE MYSELF IN LESS ANNOYING WAYS…
(there’s always porno)

AND WITH IT BEING SUMMER…
MAYBE I CAN TRY GOING OUTSIDE ?

there would be NO question about keeping them out !
