I still have this BLACK CLOUD following me around…
but it’s getting better, or is it ?
Actually I think I’m just ‘numbed’ by everything
and not being surprised by things anymore…

I thought it was over when I started feeling better…
I don’t know if it was JUST allergies…
but I was ‘heady’, head-achy, weak, heavy legs,
a burning in the pit of my stomach only appeased
by constant eating… and bad sleep…

I woke up after a week of that feeling great…

FINALLY !
and looked for the big luck ‘turn-around’ !!!
I was off work for friday and saturday (and sunday)…
slept late, had breakfast, was actually bored…
until I got the call about my son totalling his (my) new car !

PLEASE GOD, MAKE IT STOP
I WANT MY OLD, BORING LIFE BACK !!!

(AT LEAST THERE’S DOCTOR WHO)

R.I.P

A real one-of-a-kind who lasted & thrived thru the 1950’s,
adapted to the 60’s & 70’s…
and been responsible for rock classics
that will never be forgotten…
Johnny was fairly local to me here in New Jersey,
and would grace us with a yearly performance
at an outdoor, township concert series…
THE GUY STILL SOUNDED GREAT !
He performed right up to the week before he died !

The NEW doctor premiered…
(saturday, april 17th, bbc america)
and for we, the faithful…
all is right with the world (the universe?)
and if it isn’t, THE DOCTOR will take care of it !

EVEN IF IT’S A ‘KID’ DOCTOR…
(an added appeal for the younger viewers?  ie, chick-lets?)

IF YOU MISSED IT…
I’M SURE IT WILL BE REPEATED…
AND I RECOMMEND YOU STAY FOR THE RIDE !
Even though the shows are usually ’self-contained’ stories,
there is, of late, an underlying theme to a season of shows,
where they tie ALL together into a LARGER whole !!!

IN ADDITION,  IT’S THE BEST THING ON TV !!!
(99.9% of the rest SUCKS-OUT-LOUD…SOL)

SCHOOL  DAZE  ???

If you scan the ‘wacky’ news like I do…
you might have run across this
nationally reported tempest-in-a-teapot
again here in new jersey…

Seems a 3rd grade teacher had a project
for her class for WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH !
HUH? When did women get a month ?
I never heard of it before…
THEY DON’T ADVERTISE IT ANYWAY !

ANYWAY…
The project had to do with the changes
in women’s fashions over the years (centuries?)…
and the kids were asked to dress-up in period costume…
but the boys did not have to wear dresses or skirts
(not mandatory anyway) since women wear pants too !
and they could use that as part of the evolution of dress…
I GUESS THE BOYS WEREN’T SISSI-FIED ENOUGH !!!

Perhaps it was innocent, perhaps an agenda
was subliminally incorporated…

I DON’T CARE !!!

I’M WONDERING HOW & WHY
7 and 8 YEAR OLD CHILDREN
ARE INVOLVED IN AS FRIVOLOUS,
AND AS NON-EDUCATIONAL A SUBJECT,
AS WOMEN’S FASHIONS ?

AREN’T  UNIFORMS USED IN SOME SCHOOLS
TO TAKE AWAY FASHION COMPETITION?
THIS SEEMS TO ENCOURAGE IT !

I CAN SEE AN ELECTIVE COURSE AT
THE HIGH-SCHOOL OR COLLEGE LEVEL…
WHEN MORE OF AN INTEREST MIGHT BE THERE…

BUT IN THE 3rd GRADE?
ISN’T THERE MORE BASIC KNOWLEDGE
THAT A KID NEEDS TO POSESS ?

WAS THIS A TRYOUT FOR THE TEACHER’S
REALITY SHOW ?

THEIR TEACHER DISAGREED,

WONDERED WHAT THE FUSS WAS ABOUT ?

SPEAKING OF TEACHERS…

The president of the Bergen County Educ.Assn.,
and supposedly an adult…
sent out a memo to his membership
containing a ‘joke’ prayer,
wishing death on the governor of New Jersey !
(my fav. singer.. died, my fav. actor..died, my fav. governor?)

The governor is a hard-ass, cutting budgets
with teachers & education in his sights…
and not a favorite of the teacher union
who not only didn’t support him in the last election,
they IGNORED him and didn’t have a ‘pipeline’
to even contact him after the election !

BUT…
IMAGINE IF A STUDENT HAD MADE THIS JOKE ?
OR SOMEONE MADE THE JOKE
AT THE EXPENSE OF A PRESIDENT ?

IT WOULD BE ACTION-ABLE BY EITHER
A SCHOOL-BOARD or LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY !
(and somebody would DEFINITELY be in counselling)

WOULDN’T IT BE SOMETHING,
IF THE RULE-MAKERS
HAD TO LIVE BY THEIR OWN RULES !!!

what a nice response…

A guy I work with for the last 20 or so years
slipped on the ice and shattered his hip…
he needed to be operated on, now rehab,
and is housebound for the for-see-able future…

I’ve left ‘best wishes’ greetings on his answering machine…
(glad of that, didn’t know if he needed conversation)
and tried to stop by… but never caught anyone home…

I got a call-back from him the other day…
(a 45 minute phone call)
he sounded in good spirits, but you could tell he was hurting…
and since he lives just 2 streets away…
I OFFERED TO HELP IN ANY WAY I COULD…
IE… running paperwork back & forth to work,
anything around his house his wife couldn’t handle,
even picking up milk or bread
to give his wife a break from all her running around !

A DAY OR 2 LATER I GET A CARD IN THE MAIL…
I was ‘touched’ that I was sent a thank-you-note,
and could feel the appreciation for my friendship in his note.

IT LEFT ME THINKING…

THAT I REALLY MEANT ALL THAT CRAP
ABOUT HELPING OUT OVER THERE ?

VOLCANO in ICELAND ?

The eruption sent a tremendous amount of ash
into the atmosphere !  Enough to not only be a
health concern to a great portion of europe,
but literally eliminating jet airline traffic !!!

As the ice caps and ice fields melt,
they may expose fossis or artifacts
(or animals with meat-on-the-bone)
that could have been frozen & preserved
for thousands or millions of years !!!

WHO KNOWS ?

There may be evidence of an even more
ancient civilization than we already know of…
or perhaps evidence of an alien visitation !!!

THE MELTING OF THAT ICE COULD BE A
TREASURE TROVE OF KNOWLEDGE !
The same way knowledge was gleaned from
’stone-age’ insects that were caught in amber,
or air from sealed naval instruments tested
to see what air was like a few hundred years ago…

SPRING  ALLERGY  ADVICE

I’m reading that this year might be the worst year
for allergies in a long, long time…
Some doctor was on the tv news and had some
really good advice that I had never thought of…

HAIR IS A POLLEN MAGNET !
Best to wash your hair before bed
so you don’t have the constant (nearby) exposure !

I do have a version of that I suppose…
After mowing the lawn, I’ve always, quickly,
gotten out of the ‘allergy’ clothes
and jumped right in the shower !
(and the clothes are ‘hampered’ in another room)

BUT THE DOCTOR DIDN’T MENTION
MY PESONAL ‘CURE’
THAT HAS GIVEN ME GREAT RELIEF…

My bad times are VERY early spring,
or VERY late summer…
I’ve found that if I can sleep in a ‘filtered’ room,
I can hold-off most of my allergic response to nature
for the rest of the day, outside in the danger zone !

So, usually early May, but I’ve started already…
closing the windows in the room I sleep in,
and running the air-conditioner on fan mode
(not chill-the-air mode).
I get a full-night’s non-interfered with sleep…
and the daytime exposure is bear-able…
not ONLY bear-able,  but nearly reaction free !!!

TRY IT, IT CAN’T HURT !!!

THE BAD NEWS ?

At his local gym, he more than made notice
of the ‘great ass’ of a MOM that caught his fancy !
So much in fact, that Bruce was named
in the divorce suit brough by the woman’s husband…
The affair supposedly went on to the point where
she and Bruce ‘dallied’ while he was several states away
having dangerous heart surgery !!!

THE GOOD NEWS ?
(for the gym owners)

There’s a waiting list for female memberships
in Bruce’s local gym !!!
There are alot of women who would like to
have lightning and ‘Bruce-juice’ strike them too !!!
