Hopefully the ‘official’ start of spring
and by official, I mean warmer temps,
birds singing, grass green-ing, leaves on trees !
and generally bring the world back to life…

We also just passed APRIL FOOL’S DAY…
It’s a bit of an over-lap,
and one I’ll not honor with a banner this year…

before the investigation by a sovereign power ?

BUDGET CRISIS

FOR NYC TRAINS & BUSES !!!

The guys in charge figure they can save money
by eliminating many bus and train routes !
and also eliminating ‘free rides’ for kids going to school !
(city school buses must be cheaper)

Uh… aren’t the routes the source of their revenue ?
The riders PAY the money YOU spend !
So I guess you piss the riders off enough,
so they’ll start using their cars again
hurting your revenue stream further !!!

I HAVE THE SOLUTION…
A WAY TO REALLY CUT COSTS !

Sell-off ALL the trains and buses !!!
That way you’ll save plenty of money on
equipment, people to run the equipment,
and all the service people and stations !

THE ONLY COST WILL BE THE SALARIES OF
THE EXECUTIVES SITTING IN THEIR OFFICES !!!
Who needs all those fuel-guzzling trains and buses anyway ?

WHEN DID THE TRANSIT SYSTEM
STOP BEING A PUBLIC CONVENIENCE ?

WHAT’S WITH SCHOOL BUSES ?

It’s okay to drive like a maniac
as long as there are no kids in the bus ?

I’ve seen them ‘run’ stop signs with a load of kids…
(I nearly hit one)
I just had one that stopped traffic,
to let another bus onto the road…
Today a schoolbus saw an opening from a side road,
gunned it, and just made the ’small’ opening in traffic,

as if the driver were in a small car instead of a behemoth !

and my favorite…

After work, driving another driver to their personal vehicle,
putting on the ‘flashers’ to stop both directions of traffic,
and waiting for the bus passenger to cross the street
to their personal vehicle while holding up dozens of cars !!!

I HAVE NO SYMPATHY FOR THE SCHOOL BUS DRIVER
WHO GETS IN A FENDER BENDER, OR ICY ACCIDENT !!!

CAUTION IS NOT IN THEIR VOCABULARY !!!

golf ‘green’ fees ?

Not being a player, I had no idea the cost
of a round of golf on a public course…

Budget-crunched New York raised the rates
on ALL of it’s courses… which got me to thinking…
HOW MUCH DOES A ROUND OF GOLF COST ?

In New Jersey, a sampling of of 7 public courses,
show a range of prices from…
$70-$100 – prime time (of day, and year) WEEKDAYS
$72-$100 – FRIDAYS
and $85-$135 WEEKENDS !!!

(there are cheaper courses, but you get what you pay for)

Yikes… I’m glad I never got past a bucket of balls
at the driving  range !  I wonder if they take food stamps?

Donovan’s music takes some funny turns
(probably not his choice) …   having the vinyl,
I went to purchase COSMIC WHEELS a decade or so ago on CD …
They left off the one song that no one (at the time) could help me with …
THE INTER-GALACTIC LAXATIVE … a silly ditty …
(lyrics include the word “shitting”… not for general audiences?) …
and then another song I remember from the radio …
RULES AND REGULATIONS …  it barely googles.
I checked his discography and finally bought that ‘live’ CD …
(the cd cover brought back memories
but there I found another gem I’d forgotten about …
PEBBLE AND THE MAN … GOOD STUFF …
Who keeps hiding the music from us?
If not for my memory, I’d never know they existed at all…

…the record companies want us to buy and re-buy (and RE-buy)
this same material over and over again each time they change formats,
it would seem to me that the LEAST they could do
was leave this material intact…
As you said, it IS intact in our memories!!!
You don’t hear much Donovan music on the radio anymore,
other than “Sunshine Superman” and “Mellow Yellow” …
but this guy had 10 OTHER Billboard Top 40 Hits…

IF ANYONE IS FROM THE AREA or CAN GET HERE…
(a 35 minute train ride from nyc, an hour drive from Philadelphia)….

This came in the mail from the township.
Town schedule.. easter parade.. spring art show… etc…
but the shocker was the caliber of talent
they were able to get for a relatively small venue…

INDOOR – 250 SEATS   –  $22… $25 at the door….

(the al stewart looks really good to me)

I’m sure Johnny Maestro (RIP) would have made the bill…
Woodbridge does a free, outdoor, summer concert series
with some decent (well known) talent, Maestro was a yearly regular…

bad weather ?

IT FINALLY SHOWED UP..

MORE RAIN… BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS…

the last flooding 2 weeks ago is still fresh in memory…
water levels have not returned to normal…
any repairs done need re-doing…

NOW WE GET TO THE PEOPLE
WHO LIVE IN THE FLOOD PLAINS…
The flooding isn’t a secret, it’s devastating,
happens infrequently, but it happens,
and people won’t leave the affected areas !!!

One woman interviewed on the news
said she just bought the house a year ago…
WHAT WAS SHE THINKING ?
Hard to have sympathy for someone THAT brain dead !
(wasn’t the mandatory gov’t sponsored flood insurance a tip-off ?)

The sellers must have been dancing (swimming?)
in the streets, having un-loaded their house…
Current owners will have to wait a decade
‘new’ buyers to forget about the debacles !
Some home-owners want the gov’t to buy-them-out…
(fair market value? nah.. top dollar)
