I’m off the week from work,

Things are getting back to (near) normal…
the newest ‘casualty’… MY sleep !

SLEEP DOES NOT COME EASY…

I usually sleep deeply & well…
but since the ‘crisis’ with my daughter’s health is under control,
sleep has been ‘fighting’ me… too little, not restful…
Sleep so ‘light’ that it feels like I’m awake (but I’m not)…
and un-able to reach those ‘good places’ in my dreams…
(serves me right for ‘braggin’ in a recent past issue)

It can’t last…
maybe it’s just weather or just a general ‘let-down’…
I have a week off coming up soon, maybe I need it,
and if not…
OH WELL.. THERE’S ALWAYS DRUGS !!!

I’m not even going to attempt to do Carlin justice…
THE MAN IS AN ICON, AN INSTITUTION,
IT WILL ALL BE SAID WITHOUT MY FEEBLE CONTRIBUTION !!!

I attempted to find an early photo of him in his ’straight’, suit & tie days…
like in his appearances on the Ed Sullivan show for comparison.
(That’s when I ‘discovered’ his unique, cutting-edge comedy.)
IT TOOK A WHILE FOR CARLIN TO ADJUST TO HIS ‘HIPPIE-NESS’,
AND TAKE US ALL FOR A ‘RIDE’ !!!

The best I could do was the one on the upper left,
partnered with Jack Burns… even too early for me to remember !!!
The other 2 photos are more of the ‘classic’ poses
Carlin will be MORE remembered for…

I was still a fan of his in his later years…
but, in the day, when he was his ‘hottest’ and I was still a teen,
THERE WAS NOTHING TO COMPARE !!!

Actually, there STILL isn’t anything to ‘compare’ to him,
AND HE’LL BE THE STANDARD TO MEASURE UP TO…

The recent case where a Texas ‘yahoo’
killed 2 robbers with shotgun blasts to their backs
is wrong on one level, & right on so many others…

The 2 illegal immigrants were robbing an absent neighbor’s house…
The ‘yahoo’ with the shotgun lived next door,
saw what was going on… called the police…
and ignored their advice to stay inside and wait…
(he waited 10 minutes, untill they were making their getaway)
He announced that he was going out to kill them !
A detective finally arrived and ducked down in his car
when he saw there was going to be gunplay…
(he didn’t want to appear as the getaway driver & get shot too)

Shotgun blasts were ‘delivered’ to the backs of the robbers…
TEXAS COURTS FAILED TO INDICT !!!

The laws in Texas seem to permit protecting property…
guns are very prevalent (legal & easily owned) there…
The shots in the back might make it excessive force in other states,
but not in Texas (the detective said they may have been going for the gun).

I’M NOT A FAN OF SENSELESS KILLING…
AND IF HE OPENED FIRE AT A BOY SCOUT MEETING
HE SHOULD BE ARRESTED !!!
But if you go looking for trouble… breaking the law…
breaking into a home to rob it…
YOU TAKE YOUR CHANCES !!!

SPEAKING OF RIGHTS AND ILLEGAL ALIENS…

I’m just reading about a lawsuit against a local town.
Seems an ‘asian’ man was in the USA illegally..
working in a liquor store and living the ‘good’ life…
He hassled a policeman…
& tried to gather a ‘group’ to intimidate the cop.
He ended up ’swept up’ by the police,
and when his immigration status was determined…
He was deported back to his native country,
where he now lives in his ‘home’ village.

His lawsuit stems from the way HE was treated !
He thinks he was unfairly treated while excercising
his God-given & USA constitutionally given
right for protest & public disobedience !!!
HOW DARE THEY CHECK HIS IMMIGRATION STATUS !!!

To quote his attorney…
“… the township is saying to (illegal) immigrants
that they will face deportation if they choose to assert
their constitutionally protected rights.”
“THE POLICE SHOULD HAVE A POLICY TO PROHIBIT
IMMIGRATION RELATED INQUIRIES ! “

While writing parking tickets for cars blocking the street,

disregarding instructions to stay back…
then trying to persuade a dozen others to attack the cop !
CIVILIZED ? HE’S AN ANIMAL !!!

YOU DON’T GET TO CHOOSE WHICH LAWS YOU OBEY,
AND WHICH LAWS YOU DISREGARD !!!
(that’s what the legislature is for)

reported the ‘criminal’ to the Immigration authorities…

And even if the police DO have a policy for NOT reporting,

A half-day of ocean (bay) fishning on a public ‘party’ fishing boat
used to cost me $25 (less for a kid)

It got too ‘crowded’ for me and I gave it up…

(I usually stop for a decade now and again)

I was asking a fisherman the current prices…
The same half-day (4 hour) fishing trip
now costs $40 – 50 !!!

WOW… I CAN SEE THAT KEEPING ALOT OF PEOPLE AWAY !!!
I’m told that business is so ‘off’
that for the first time there are even empty ’slips’
at the harbour I’ve gone to all my life !!!

There ARE other ways to amuse yourself !!!
ARE WE GONNA FISH OR NOT ?

I was getting 42+ miles per gallon in my 1981 Datsun,
why is that number so amazing for cars built now?
WE’VE GONE BACKWARDS SINCE THEN !!!

Back then, people conserved (pissed off at pump price)..
and started buying ONLY non-gas guzzlers…
as the demand for alternate fuels got more attractive…
and the demand may have permanently dropped…
the oil suppliers dropped their prices to a manage-able level…
(still making a bundle, but putting off the ‘gouging’ for another day)
just enough to ‘kill’ any strong action…
Just enough to keep us dependent…
THEY GOT US LAZY AGAIN !!!

If we were to seriously (and we should) look into alternate fuels…
the price of oil would AGAIN drop to a level
that would make it un-economical for us to
‘kill-the-golden-goose’ of the arabic countries !

THUS AGAIN THWARTING RESEARCH INTO NEW ENERGY !!!
IT WILL BE TOO EXPENSIVE COMPARED TO OIL !!!

AND THE STUPID CONSUMER WILL FORGET (again)
AND PUT OFF THE RESEARCH FOR ANOTHER GENERATION !!!

Outside of our own solar system…
any telescopic view is a look into the long ago past..

THERE COULD VERY WELL BE THRIVING,
TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED LIFEFORMS
PRESENTLY OUT THERE THAT WE DO NOT HAVE
THE ABILITY TO SEE IN ‘REAL’ TIME,
