Please excuse me if my mind isn’t on RIP
as much as usual…

Next week’s RIP issue might reflect lack of effort more…
Most of this was written before the hospital problems…

My baby girl.. (just 21)…
was rushed to the emergency room and admitted
for what should have been a simple 1 day procedure,
but due to complications, she might be hospitalized
5 days or more (serious.. they usually kick you out fast)…
She was just geting around to scheduling her ‘laproscopy’
(minor, minor surgical prodedure) to remove her gall bladder.

Now she’s dealing with fever, nausea, severe pain…
and a ‘missing’ stone that enlarged a bile duct…
the search for the stone has left her ‘fasting’… not a crumb,
since friday (it’s sunday now)…
and although she’s getting intravenous fluids and anti-biotics…
she has not been allowed to drink a drop of water
for over 3 days and counting (it might be still more)…
(I CAN’T IMAGINE THAT)

The morphine drip is having no effect on the severe pain,
and the heavy-duty pain injection (begins with a ‘d’)…
is only given every 3 or so hours…
but only provides relief for a little over 2 hours…

I’M EXTREMELY WORRIED & CONCERNED…
and ’squeezing’ in a tiny bit of late-nite ‘RIP’ time
is my way of taking my mind off her condition…

Of course, it happens on a weekend,
when nothing gets done in a hospital…
and the 2 surgeons are telling different ’stories’…
(she’s either being operated on in the morning, or in a few days)
The 2nd one… for GI stuff…
was talking about possible pancreas damage & death !!!
and although SHE left us crying…
the RN (nurse) couldn’t believe what we were told…
saying of course it’s possible (what was said)
but the odds were tremendously against anything like that !!!
(hopefully BOTH nurses were right)

SO IT’S A WAITING GAME NOW…
waiting for the pain to ease, and the anti-biotics to cool her off…
WHO KNEW IT COULD COME TO THIS ?

WHY CAN’T IT BE THE EASY WAY SOMETIMES ?
She’ll be in for a week tomorrow,
they just want the pain manage-able so she can recover at home…
The fever spikes and injected pain-relievers are keeping her there.
If both can be controlled for 24 hours, she can come home to heal !

oh.. one last thing…
She’s in a very good hospital… not our local ones…
When then Gov. McGreevey broke his leg on a beach
nearly 100 miles away…
this was the hospital he had himself helicoptered to…
AND HE HAD HIS CHOICE OF ANYWHERE !!!

SO CROSSED FINGERS…
PLEASE LET THIS BE AN EASY ONE !!!
(actually too late for that, but perhaps as easy as possible from now)

I had just heard about this ‘wacky’ case…
seems a 52 year old woman had an accident
putting on a thong from the
VICTORIA SECERET…’sexy little thing’ LINE…
There is a decorative ‘metallic piece’ on the ‘low-rise v-string’…
if you ’stretch’ it enough… the ‘piece’ can ’shoot’ off
and if you’re unlucky enough.. it can ’shoot your eye out’…
and that’s why Ralphie in ‘CHRISTMAS STORY’
was given a Red Ryder BB Gun instead of thong underwear !
(your eye still comes out, but doesn’t put you up to public ridicule)

Very few women are ‘built’ for thong underwear…
(and as a ’shield’ to protect clothing? worthless!)
but if it never shows? who cares what they wear !!!
but there’s alot to be said for regular sexy underwear…
(and comfort?)
like that ‘pinch’ where legs & ass cheeks come together…

For me.. I never found the ‘thong’ style attractive or sexy…
(whew… it’s just NOT the best presentation)

I’m much more drawn to a sexily semi-clothed ‘bottom’
than a bare ass (even if the woman is ‘built’) !
I guess that’s why lingerie sells so well.
(even if it usually ends up on the floor)

(and if it’s a gas guzzler, you’ll be screwed later regardless)

So even if gas goes to $5 a gallon…
(during the lifetime of the offer & there may be a price limit)
it’s basically offering a rebate of $1500 on many vehicles
they are probably having trouble ‘moving’ !!!

AREN’T UNUSUAL WHEN PRODUCT MUST BE SOLD !

In addition…
who knows if they don’t work the gas money
into the final selling price of some inexperienced purchaser
one way or another ?

I HAVE SOME ADVICE FOR IPOD OWNERS…
DON’T ACCIDENTALLY DROP THEM IN THE TOILET ?
BAD !!!

My kid dropped hers (quite by accident)…
it no longer works…
You CAN’T remove the battery…
The best you can do is stand it on one of it’s corners,
near a fan, sitting on a window sill that gets sun.
END RESULT ?
Yer screwed… it won’t ever work again…
(in my research, I found a similar problem with cell phones)

It woudn’t be so bad if it weren’t for the cost…
(I assume people smart enough to back up their music)
Why do you need to carry many thousands of songs with you?
And I don’t have the eyes or the inclanation to watch video on it.
(a new Japanese version projects a bigger pic on a flat surface)

So I’ve offered my daughter one of my spare SANSA PLAYERS.
I use a 4 gig one (using the voice recorder to tape RON & FEZ replays)
(XM SATELLITE RADIO – NOON-to-THREE)
(I listen a day late at work)

I keep about 200 songs on mine and set it to random…
(I’ve had up to 600 songs on it & it will fit 1000)
When particular songs start to be skipped regularly…
I effortlessly take some out, put some in…
IT’S NOT LIKE I DON’T KEEP THE MUSIC ELSEWHERE !

I’m ‘lending’ her a 2 gig SANSA that can hold 250 songs,
is just a tiny bit bigger than a package of gum…
has an fm tuner & voice recorder…
it can be worn very comfortably from a lanyard around your neck.

And if the damn thing breaks, gets wet, or is lost ?

I read an item that sounded like bragging to me…
The National Weather Service ‘claims’
that in 2 million local weather reports over a year…
They are CORRECT 75% of the time !!!

If that includes reports of fair weather,
where there isn’t a cloud for 3000 miles,
that’s not exactly magical !!!
If you guessed ‘partly-cloudy, mostly sun’ for the year…
You’d be right 60 or 70 % of the time !!!

Personally, from MY experience, I think 75% a bit high !
But put another way… they concede being wrong 1 time in 4 !!!
THAT STINKS !!!
With state-of-the-art computers, satellites, & weather instruments,
I think they should be embarassed by less than 95% !!!

I may be remembering with rose-colored-glasses…
but BEFORE, when weathermen ‘cast’ their own reports…
without the benefit of today’s technology…
I DON’T REMEMBER THEM BEING AS WRONG AS THEY ARE NOW !!!

Mainly because they ALL use the same source !!!

THE RESULTS OF THE YEARLY

I was told to tell my ‘interested’ family…
