I’ve seen sunny days that I thought would never end…

An uneventful week for me…
weather is improving in NJ, but the ‘FIRE & RAIN’ GODS
haven’t been too kind to the other side of the world…

It’s terrible when it’s YOUR turn…

Paul Eddington CBE

English Actor
Best known for appearances in popular tv sitcoms of the 1970s and ’80s.
He also had roles in early episodes of The Prisoner and The Avengers.

Although he worked as an actor all of his life,
Eddington was in his late forties before he became a household name.
He rose to prominence through The Good Life (Good Neighbors),
first screened by the BBC in 1975, and still being repeated in 2007.
Eddington’s fame grew further as the star of the hit comedy series
Yes Minister, first screened in 1980, and later to become Yes, Prime Minister
(former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s favourite TV programme)
He was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1987
and in 1992, he won the Critics’ Circle Theatre Award for Best Actor,
for his performance in No Man’s Land.

If you’ve watched ‘brit’ tv over the years…
it’s nearly impossible to have not seen him in something !!!
I always remember a drunken ‘good neighbor’ confessing to
Felicity Kendall that he ‘always fancied her’…

Well, to Uma Thurman it was a terrifying message
(not the Renfield part… the RIP on a card)
from her out-of-control stalker (unlike the stalking I do)…

BUT TO ME ?

It’s campy and amusing to my readers (I hope)…
and, for me…
something to aspire to (one day) !!!

Resting-in-Peace should be the goal…
Leaving this world.. totally at peace…
with yourself… with everyone…

Just a short explanation of my Uma Thurman comment…

I can cheer the guilty verdict of her stalker…
The guy is a nut.. and perhaps dangerous…
(unlike the fondness I have for Kellie Martin)
and why should she have to deal with a non-family crazy !
Come to think of it… stay away from the ‘family’ crazies too !!!

BUT .. I did take umbrage at her specific quotes & testimony
that a religious greeting card, with a drawn in man,
with a razor blade, at an open grave…
had ‘RIP’ on a ‘marker’ on the card
and that it ‘terrorized’ her !!!
(I thought that I’ve made ‘RIP’ people friendly over the years)

I REALLY THINK SHE COULD HAVE LEFT ‘RIP’ OUT OF IT !
The ‘RIP’ is the tamest thing on the card !
Why would a little thing like that ‘rattle’ her
enought to mention it with those OTHER things ?

KMART never complained !!!
(or she’s too afraid too ?)

is the way the phrase was originally written?

I was always of the mind that the expression was that…
” all men are CREATED equal ”
but then comes what you do AFTER creation,
and that, DEFINITELY, makes the expression false !
(financially, socially, etc)

The only place the expression, as written, makes sense…
IS IN THE ‘EYES’ OF THE LAW !

I don’t want you to think I’ve run out of material…
but here’s a home improvement tip
that came in handy for me
(I’m very clever)

and there might be someone out there
as inconvenienced as I was…

In the ‘RIP-cave’ I call home… (my den?)
I did not have easy use of a closet due to placement
of ‘floor’ items between the couch & the doors…
Access was blocked to the 2 door closet,
and required moving a bunch of crap to get in & out of it.

SO THIS SOLUTION WAS FINALLY IMPLEMENTED
AND HAS WORKED OUT EXTREMELY WELL…

Originally, each of the doors was hung by 2 hinges each.
(the illustration on the left)
but by adding 2 more hinges to one of the already hanging doors
(before the cut),
as shown in the illustration to the right,
and, AFTER installing hinges, carefully cutting along the ‘black’ line
with a small bladed electric tool,
you have created a ‘half-door- with very little trouble !
(and did not have hinge placement issues or need exact re-hanging)

The ‘half-door’ retains it’s sturdiness,
and now can be opened to provide access & use !!!

Unless you’re looking for the ‘cut’…  it’s un-notice-able,
and I’ve additionally hung a large calender
from one of the slat holes to hide the ‘cut’ completely !

I’ve just had someone (who lives in this house),
who never noticed it before,
marvel at my ingenuity !!!

IS THIS FREAKY OR WHAT ?

Sometime between 9pm and midnite…
My encryption on my wireless router disappears !!!
My kid can’t get online on her laptop.. can’t sign into the network…
Resets don’t work, un-plugging doesn’t work…
but signing into the free-to-the-world signal I’m generating
WITHOUT  the encryption key works !!!

It’s been trouble free for over 4 years…
my daughter is thinking we were ‘attacked’ !!!
(I don’t think anyone can take control of Windows 98)

I JUST RE-ENCRYPTED
AND IT SEEMS TO BE FINE NOW…

BUT STRANGE !!!

RIGHT ON THE MONEY…

I’m driving a 1992 car with 75,000 miles on it,
I bought it new…
I kept my Datsun for 17 years, 2 kids learned to drive on it,
the 3rd boy was upset he never got-a-shot…
I WANT TO BREAK MY RECORD WITH THIS ONE..
AND KEEP IT GOING FOR AT LEAST 20 YEARS !!!

(oh… the rest of the Renfield Fleet has nothing older than 2002)

I had a front-end problem on my ‘old’ car for a few years…
(a tiny vibration that turned into the steering wheel shudder)
wasn’t find-able at first… but it got bad enough to worry me…
I took it in to a shop near where I work… (convenient, not the cheapest)

I was leary of the odd diagnosis…
but since it was more maintenance than ball-joint,
I was optimisitic…
I was told that a ‘belt’ was out-of-place & nearly broken
in one of my front tires & was on the verge of perhaps
a dangerous situation on the road…
It’s not visible under good tread,
but easily detected on a wheel balancing machine.

I had them put on 2 new front tires,
they balanced & aligned the front end,
even got an oil change & filter & lube…

I told a co-worker…
He ‘guessed’ that it must have cost $300 !!!
I was in awe… told him he was pretty damn clost !!!

HIS REPLY…?
NO MATTER WHAT YOU HAVE DONE THERE,
IT ALWAYS SEEMS TO COST $300 !!!

SINCE I HAD MY ANCIENT CAR SERVICED…

I was hearing a valve click on morning start-up…
So, of course, I check the oil level…

They DID change the oil (after 4 or 5 years)…
I was afraid there could be a newly created leak, or too little oil.

I TRIED to check the oil… with little luck…

SEEMS I CAN ONLY READ A DIPSTICK LEVEL
IF THE OIL IS  BLACK not clear !!!

Hey.. I was watching an old movie…
and there in the scene was a gas station…  an ESSO station…

SEEMS MOSTLY ALL THE ESSO STATIONS WERE REPLACED
WITH THE EXXON BRAND NAME IN THE USA
DUE TO SOME LITIGATON IN THE 70′S
(esso still remains the company’s international trade name)

I remember as a kid (in my area) when they changed
the name of ALL the ESSO stations
to the parent company’s name  EXXON  (the same country-wide).

WHAT’S THAT ?  EXXON ?
WHAT A STUPID NAME FOR A GAS STATION !!!
In my head, ALL the rest of the country
should have changed THEIR names to ESSO…
